Evidence-Based Instructional Practices
In my pedagogical consultations, I emphasize evidence-based instructional practices that promote effective teaching and learning strategies. Through tailored workshops and one-on-one sessions, I help learners to implement research-driven techniques to enhance engagement and success. I have worked extensively in the area of faculty development in higher education to support more effective and efficient classroom teaching. While conducting professional training, all my sessions are based on strong pedagogical principles.
Expert in Adult Learning Principles
With extensive experience in higher education, intercultural education, and policy studies, I bring a rich and applied understanding of Adult Learning Theory into my teaching and training sessions. This requires facilitating critical discussions, encouraging reflective practice, and helping adult learners connect theoretical frameworks with their lived experiences.
Expertise in Assessments and Curriculum
I am academically and professionally trained in assessment and curriculum development, with 15 years of teaching experience. My PhD research examined how the alignment of assessment, curriculum, and classroom instruction is essential for creating positive and meaningful learning experiences for the learners. By providing expert guidance and feedback, I assist educators in designing effective assessments and designing innovative curriculum that aligns with best practices in teaching and learning. Whenever I design or deliver any program or learning experience, my background in assessment and curriculum plays a key role in shaping effective and meaningful instructional design.

Observations
In the recent years, I have conducted over 200 classroom observations, providing evidence-based teaching feedback to faculty members to support the enhancement of their instructional practices. These faculty represented a wide range of disciplines, including business, arts, trades, creative industries, IT, STEM, healthcare, and many others. These observations also have made me understand different industry and disciplinary expectations while designing a leaning experiences.
Expert in Online, Asynchronous, HyFlex, and In-Person Teaching & Facilitation
Dr. Sultana brings extensive experience in designing and delivering courses across multiple teaching modalities, including online, asynchronous, hybrid, and in-person formats. She has taught asynchronous graduate-level courses at Queen's University and the University of British Columbia (UBC), demonstrating her ability to engage students effectively in virtual learning environments.
With expertise in developing comprehensive 42-hour courses using various Learning Management Systems (LMS), she is proficient in platforms such as D2L, Brightspace, and Canva. Her strong technological adaptability allows her to quickly learn and confidently manage new tools and platforms as required.
In addition to her teaching, Dr. Sultana has trained faculty members in implementing HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) modes of delivery, equipping instructors with the necessary skills to successfully navigate multi-modal teaching environments that serve both in-person and remote learners simultaneously.
Her versatility is her greatest strength—she is equally comfortable facilitating face-to-face instruction, having taught numerous in-person courses at both colleges and universities across Canada. Her ability to seamlessly navigate different delivery modes ensures high-quality, engaging, and student-centred learning experiences in any educational context.
As an example of my work, I created a podcast series featuring experienced educators who shared their personal teaching stories and insights. The goal was to develop authentic, relatable learning materials for entry-level faculty. These podcasts became very popular among new employees, as they offered valuable guidance and practical ideas drawn from the experiences of seasoned professionals. One episode is shared below:
